With so many health and skin benefits, we’re heading down south on our sustainable road trip to learn more about aloe vera.
What in the world could all these products have in common, you might ask? Great question… it’s that their first ingredient is organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, aka organic Aloe Juice! Who knew this ancient plant could provide such a beneficial base for so many different types of natural cosmetics and natural skin care? We’re headed straight to a California aloe vera farm to get our hands dirty and learn how this amazing natural skincare and natural makeup base is the shining star in the majority of our formulas. Known by the ancient Egyptians as the “plant of immortality,” aloe is used as the main base in dozens of our products to moisturize skin with a natural abundance of antioxidants, minerals, enzymes, and vitamins.
What is in Aloe Vera?
Aloe vera’s well known soothing properties, antioxidant content, and obvious hydration benefits make it a no-brainer ingredient addition. When you first think of aloe, we’ll bet that sun burns and healing small cuts come instantly to mind, but this powerful plant’s benefits extend far beyond helping your lobster-hued skin.
Aloe’s healing effects have been recognized for thousands of years, and we’re maintaining that long-lived tradition here at 100% PURE. Aloe vera has the ability to penetrate deep into our skin, transporting nutrients while also helping to remove toxins. Here are some key nutrients found in this natural ingredient:
Aloe vera is chock full of minerals, bursting with over 20 skin nourishing stars like selenium, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper and zinc.
Who knew that in just 1% worth of aloe content, there could be so much good stuff brewing? Aloe vera touts an impressive vitamin list including vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C and E to supplement your skin-soothing crew.
These players are bringing their anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties to the party.
This spiky plant packs a lot into each cubic millimeter of its mass, containing twenty of the twenty two amino acids that humans need; including seven of the eight essential amino acids.
Anatomy of Aloe Vera
There are three parts to an aloe vera leaf. Aloe vera is essentially 99% to 99.5% water with the rest being “gel.”
This dark green outer layer acts as a protective barrier to the juice inside. This part of the aloe does not appear to have any measurable nutritional value.
The aloe “juice” that comes out when a leaf is cut or squeezed has a slightly bitter taste and has a tinge of yellow to it. This thin lining is between the aloe rind and aloe juice inside.
Aloe Leaf Juice
This clear and odorless gel makes up the majority of the aloe leaf. Aloe leaf’s fleshy interior is full of nutrients and antioxidants, and is touted for both its topical and ingestible healing properties.
Benefits of Aloe Vera for Your Skin
With all of its amazing minerals and antioxidants content, it’s no wonder why we’ve included aloe as the base of numerous cosmetic and skincare products. As we age, fine lines and overall loss of skin elasticity start to creep up. Organic Aloe Vera is the perfect nutrient packed base, instead of using plain water as most conventional skin care products would do as they try to stretch out their costs without any skin benefits for you. There are a plethora of antioxidants and minerals happening in aloe vera juice, so keep reading to find out why you need to make the switch to green skincare products.
Aloe vera’s moisturizing properties are perfect for all skin types, especially skin that tends to be on the drier end of the spectrum. Aloe vera contains two natural hormones: auxin and gibberellins, which have been shown to assist in wound healing and contain anti-inflammatory properties. These hormones help to stimulate the growth of new cells in your skin, which can help speed up the healing process and reduce scarring

Vitamin C + Aloe Vera
Are you searching for that one superstar natural skincare product that will change everything? We were too, so we went searching everywhere for it, only to come up empty handed (and having buyer’s remorse later). So, Susie Wang simply invented it! Her patented stabilized technology for our Vitamin C Serum is in a skin care class of its own. Did you know that vitamin c is amazing at increasing collagen production, which helps your skin to look younger by softening the overall texture and decreasing wrinkles? We harnessed the power of vitamin c in a base of nutrient-rich organic aloe juice to help protect your skin against free radicals that lead to premature aging and sun spots.
Before applying your Vitamin C Serum, make sure your face is clean and dry. Our PM treatment works for all skin types and is best when applied as the first step in your nightly skincare routine; a serum works best when applied directly after cleansing. It’s perfect for anyone looking to help firm and brighten their overall skin tone.
PRO TIP: If you practice the 10 Step Korean Skin Care Routine, using multiple serums is totally ok and highly encouraged!
