6 Essential Skin Care Products for Glamping

#1: Dry shampoo
Some campsites are outfitted with nearby bathrooms and running water, while others are a bit on the ‘rustic’ side – either way, we recommend packing a dry shampoo. On one strand, you beat the lines and wait times for a shower with generally a 5-minute max of hot water. On the hair flip side, if you could get away from having to wash your locks for a day or two, why not take advantage? That’s a hair-yeah from us!

The recipe:
1/4 cup arrowroot powder or organic cornstarch, 2 tablespoons organic cocoa powder (for darker hair), 5 drops of essential oil, comb

Add drops of essential oil (we recommend lavender or chamomile) into the arrowroot or cornstarch, and mix with a fork. Add the cocoa powder for darker hair types. Lightly sprinkle some of your mixture onto the crown of your head near your roots, and comb through. Finish by styling as usual.

#2: Sunscreen
If you're spending time in nature, it inevitably means you're getting some serious sun exposure. While working on your tan may be one of your ultimate summer goals, it's still important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. The Green Tea SPF 30 Sunscreen lotion defends against harmful UV rays with SPF 30 protection, while nourishing and rehydrating thirsty skin with green tea and aloe.

Made with oils of raspberry, avocado, olive, and rosehip to soften skin, this natural sunscreen also doubles as a moisturizer (read: saves space in your glamping bag). Apply to face, neck, and all other areas exposed to the sun for broad spectrum UVA / UVB and environmental protection.

#3: Oil Blotting Wipes
By day 1 of your glamping trip, your face is bound to be covered in sweat and dirt, and will feel especially greasy if you have combo or oily skin types. A few swipes of an oil blotting wipe should do the trick to clean your skin – a blessing after a long (long) road trip to your outdoor destination.

Our antibacterial blotting wipes are perfect for dabbing away oil and shine, or touching up fruit pigmented® makeup. Made from antibacterial wood pulp and hemp fiber, these ultra-gentle sheets can be used multiple times a day, to leave skin purified and shine-free.

#4: Argan Oil Creamy Cleanser
When you’re able to wash away impurities and a day’s worth of outdoor activities, you need skin care products that will go above and beyond. Our Argan Oil Creamy Cleanser moisturizes and nourishes while gently washing away impurities, leaving skin super soft and supple.

It's packed with omega fatty acids, vitamin E, and linoleic acids, all of which work to lightly moisturize your skin, soften dry patches, and even reduce acne. Massage a quarter-sized amount onto damp skin in circular motions with a detoxifying konjac sponge (gentle enough for skin around eyes), then rinse with lukewarm water. If a sink isn’t available, rinse with purified drinking water from your camping cache.

#5: EGCG Concentrate Cream
This highly nutrient-rich moisturizer softens and fortifies with key phytonutrients, to keep skin nourished amidst harsh outdoor elements. EGCG, the potent antioxidant from green tea, protects against environmental damage and neutralizes aging free radicals. Our EGCG Concentrate Cream is a protective moisturizer made in a base of hydrating yerba mate water, rich açai butter, and lightweight green tea oil.

After cleanser and serum, apply quarter-sized amount to face and neck. Gently massage and press into skin, taking care not to pull or tug. Can be used AM and PM. For normal, dry, oily, combination-skin types.

#6: Konjac sponge
A facial cleansing sponge made from 2 simple ingredients: konjac plant and bamboo charcoal. Our detoxifying Konjac Charcoal Sponge deeply cleanses the pores by drawing dirt, oil, and environmental toxins away from the skin. The soft, porous texture gently buffs away dead skin cells, bumps, and flakes for smoother skin. This gentle sponge is also suitable for sensitive skin types.

3 Camping Beauty Hacks

To make your glamping experience even easier, we’ve pulled together our 3 favorite natural beauty hacks to keep your skin (and hair) looking just as gorgeous as it does at home.

Reusable facial wipes
In lieu of traditional one-use facial wipes that are piling up in our landfills, we’re whipping together a green version that you’ll be able to use on your trip. If you’re feeling extra crafty before your departure to the great outdoors, you can sew your own small reusable facial wipes.

We bought organic bamboo facial wipes for this project because bamboo is a sustainable and fast growing plant. After filling a small, watertight mason jar halfway with distilled or purified water, squeeze about 1 tbsp of our Argan Oil Creamy Cleanser (or Charcoal Clay Cleanser for acne-prone or oily skin) into the jar. Give the container a good shake to mix up your formula and activate your cleanser ingredients.

Fill your jar with as many reusable wipes as you’d like, keep the mixture on ice to slow bacterial growth, and use within 3 days for refreshed skin on the go.

Frozen aloe vera
Since you’re bringing a cooler, freeze some aloe vera gel in an ice cube tray and keep it in the freezer until your glamping trip. Pop a cube out of the cooler whenever you need to soothe a patch of dry or irritated skin, or perhaps accidentally sunburned skin. These little gel-gems will help to soothe insect bites, and quell itching from both poison oak and poison ivy.

DIY hair rinse
If your hair is feeling gunked-down from the elements of your camp trip, try an apple-cider vinegar rinse to clear sebum, dirt, or debris build-up from your scalp. Fill a small amber glass spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of filtered apple cider vinegar and purified water. Spray strands thoroughly for an even coating, allow to set for 10 minutes, and then rinse with lukewarm water.
