Have you gotten the lowdown on the newest members of our skin care family?

Whether you’re looking for something to ease pore congestion or brighten the complexion, our Concentrated Boost Treatments deserve a moment of your time. They employ only the most active ingredients and leave out all the rest – the result is ultra potent treatments for targeting specific concerns.

Not everyone may be familiar with powder boost treatments, and that’s OK! These bite size formulas go a long way, and it all comes down to how you use them.

Key Benefits of Powder Boosts

You may be wondering: why would anyone want their skin treatment in powder-form?

By nature, powder skin treatments have a longer shelf life because they’re stored without the presence of water. Water can breed bacteria, unless you introduce a preservative. So in essence, these boost treatments are also naturally more concentrated (we’re talking 90% or more of the active ingredient) because they don’t require the support of inactive ingredients.

Make no mistake: inactive ingredients like preservatives, extracts, and some essential oils still serve a purpose. That’s why we create traditional serums with more than just one or two ingredients: they can be targeted towards a wider array of skin types and concerns.

On the flip side, these boosts are designed to target very specific concerns. If you know you’re looking for a niacinamide treatment for enlarged pores, go straight to the source. Likewise, if brightening and collage is your goal, opt for a super dose of vitamin C to supplement other products in your routine.

How to Use Powder Boost Skin Treatments

So when – and how – should you incorporate your new boosts into your skin care routine? Let’s break it down in a reader-friendly guide.

WHEN
Our Niacinamide Boost can be used day or night (just be sure to protect the skin with a broad spectrum natural sunscreen).

Typically, vitamin C serums can be used during the day under a sunscreen. Our Vitamin C Boost contains a sky-high 96% vitamin C – that’s even higher than our 50% Vitamin C Mask. Sensitive skin types may want to patch-test for daytime use, or simply opt for nighttime use to avoid potential photosensitivity.

HOW
After cleansing and toning your skin, shake a pea-sized amount of the skin treatment into your palm. Combine with a few drops of warm water to create a liquid, serum-like consistency.

  1. Gently pat the mixture onto the skin, evenly distributing around the face, eyes, and neck – just as you would a serum.

  2. It’s perfectly normal for there to be some excess white powder left over on your skin after the first application, especially with the Vitamin C Boost. When this happens, continue to moisten skin with water until treatment is fully absorbed. A clever hack is to use a water or hydrosol mist.

  3. Use the boosts as your singular nighttime treatment, or layer them under mutually beneficial serums.

  4. Follow up with your evening moisturizer, and make sure to use sunscreen the following day!

Ingredients In Our Concentrated Boosts

Some of our favorite ingredients star in these new skin treatments: hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and niacinamide.

One of our favorite features about all of these ingredients is the fact that they’re effective, but gentle enough that pretty much anyone can benefit from them, no matter their skin type.

Let’s see what these nutrients can do for our skin when used in a powder treatment:

Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is known for its hydrating effects as a humectant, meaning that it can draw moisture from the air. As an essential component of your skin, its role is to keep the skin protected from external factors, and may even help maintain a healthy microbiome.

Despite its name, hyaluronic acid is actually an incredibly mild active ingredient. Contrary to popular misconceptions, it doesn’t exfoliate or stimulate the skin – it simply hydrates. This is great news for those with dry, depleted, or sensitive skin.

Niacinamide
If you’re looking for a skin care treatment that brightens and refines the skin, look no further than niacinamide. Also known as vitamin B3, niacinamide is a stable, water-soluble vitamin known for its ability to reduce oiliness, minimize pores, and tone the complexion.

One of our favorite things about niacinamide is its versatility: in most cases, you can apply niacinamide in tandem with any of your other favorite ingredients, like retinol and beta hydroxy acids.

Niacinamide can also help strengthen the skin’s barrier, thus keeping it safe from heavy environmental damage. There is also evidence that niacinamide promotes the hydrating benefits of your moisturizers – a factor that’s only amplified by the addition of hyaluronic acid in our Concentrated Boost.

The Niacinamide Boost is for those looking to refine their pores, reduce excess sebum production, and encourage recovery in the skin from photodamage.

Vitamin C
As an antioxidant, vitamin C works to protect your skin from damaging free radicals caused by UV rays, pollution, and smoking.

In fact, one scientific review even found that vitamin C may help prevent aging caused by sun damage. It does this by inhibiting the pigment molecule tyrosinase, which is known to cause hyperpigmentation.

Keep in mind that not all forms of vitamin C are created equal. That’s why when we formulated our Vitamin C Boost, we included the best forms of vitamin C.

One of these is ascorbic acid, which is the most documented form of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid has a pH range of less than 4, which makes it ideal for our skin.

Meanwhile, we also incorporate calcium ascorbate and sodium ascorbate, which are two mineral salts of vitamin C. We love vitamin C mineral salts because they act as a sort of “buffered” version of vitamin C, so you can still get a high potency while enjoying a gentle formula.

Whenever you need your daily (or nightly) boost, the Vitamin C Boost Concentrated is here to help brighten the complexion, promote firmness, and lighten hyperpigmented parts of the skin.
