Age is nothing but a number…until we wake up to our first wrinkles. Certain areas on our faces need a little more maintenance than others to stay tight and smooth. When it comes to our appearance and skin type, it’s important to find balance. For those of us with oily skin, that means looking for products that help control our skin, while those of us with dry skin types need extra nourishment. Both skin types need a good balance of moisture and hydration (yes, there’s a difference!). Eye cream is especially important if you have dry skin, but it’s essential for all of us who want youthful, sparkling eyes. Looking for your new eye cream BFF? We’re pushing our Super Fruit Oil Nourishing Eye Cream to the limelight today. Keep reading to learn more about our moisturizing eye cream and why it’s essential for keeping dry skin at bay.

Why Do I Need an Eye Cream?

Our skin isn’t all the same. Different areas of our face have different needs, and in terms of neediness, let’s just say the eyes are the crybaby of the family. Over time, with age, and with special regards to skin type, our eyes can feel dry and look tired. The eyes have thinner skin than our nose, or our forehead for example, and this thinness can also result in weakness. That’s why you need an eye cream that’s formulated to absorb quickly on top of your usual moisturizer. The skin around your eyes is also constantly shifting as your blink, causing it to lose water faster. Collagen, which keeps our skin looking and feeling young and plump, is something that can often be in short supply as we get older and we lose our ability to retain water in our skin cells. Another way to think about it is that eye cream is to our eyes what water is to our body.

Lucky for us, consistent care and lubrication keeps our eyes at the top of their game. To maintain that youthful quality about our skin, we use nourishing creams and oils to seal the surface and lock in nutrients that help with dryness, wrinkles, sagging and loss of collagen. We recommend using an eye cream every single morning and night to show our eyes proper love. We’ve got an eye cream for each of your needs. Try using Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream in the morning to depuff eyes and brighten dark circles. For extra anti-aging power for the delicate skin around your eyes, pick up a Retinol PM Eye Cream. And for dry skin, puffiness, and fine lines, a rich Super Fruit Oil Nourishing Eye Cream is perfect for moisturizing anytime.

Eye Cream for Dry Skin

All of us at some point or another have felt dry skin. It’s pretty common after using a harsh cleanser, swimming in a chlorine pool, or dancing the day away at Coachella, but sometimes dry skin is caused by something internally. Besides just being super uncomfortable, having dry skin can mean exposure to other skin conditions that stop us from living our best life. Dryness can result in tight skin which ultimately contributes to quicker skin wrinkling. Even worse, having dry skin can result in chronic itchiness, flakiness, acne and even skin cracks. That spells fine lines and wrinkles, and a dry under eye that can make baggy eyes look even worse.

If you have dry skin, you’ll need to both hydrate (add water) to your skin, and moisturize (add oil) to your skin to lock water in. The sensitive skin around your eye is especially prone to dryness and damage. Your eyes are constantly blinking and moving, causing the skin around your eyes to dry out faster. Make sure to drink plenty of water and protect your skin from the sun. Follow a targeted skin care regime for dry skin and stick to natural, organic skin care that won’t strip your skin. Use our Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer before applying makeup. On top of that, choosing a hydrating and moisturizing eye cream will help push that dryness to the side.

Super Fruit Oil Nourishing Eye Cream

This eye cream is unlike others in so many ways. It’s a moisturizing eye cream that includes lots of natural fruity elements, which not only means this eye cream smells delicious without irritating artificial fragrances, but also makes the cream feel amazing on our skin. Pomegranate water in this formula helps with deep skin repair and anti-aging. The antioxidants found in pomegranate help with skin cell generation for supple, youthful looking skin. Grape extract gives this oil a great, smooth consistency that isn’t greasy or sticky. The grapes contribute Vitamin E but are also known to banish dark circles and restore collagen. Lightweight plum oil helps with skin elasticity, and acai oil helps to heal cracks and damage in our skin.

Since we’re passionate about wholesome ingredients and organic skin care, the natural and organic ingredients in this eye cream speak volumes about the effectiveness and potential results. Some highlight ingredients in this eye cream include organic glycerin, organic avocado butter and organic coffee oil. Why are these ingredients important for an eye cream? If you’re not familiar with glycerin, it’s a moisturizing ingredient that also helps to pull in and maintain moisture on the surface. If you are a 100% PURE junkie, you’ll already be familiar with the inclusion of avocado oil and butter in a lot of our formulas. The fatty acids in avocado butter fight free radicals that cause breakouts, damage and signs of aging. This is especially important for the eye area that’s one of the first places to show aging. The next highlight ingredient we want to touch on is the coffee oil in this product.

Wait, you want us to put oil on our skin?!

Yes, we do! Believe it or not, topical oil doesn’t make us break out. Breakouts can be caused by many things (stress, hormones, bacteria, to name a few) and of course, oil being blocked in our pores creates a breakout. But nourishing oils like those in our Super Fruit Oil Nourishing Eye Cream make our skin happy. The caffeine in coffee oil helps to energize our eyes, and that’s why we love using caffeine so much in skin care. It encourages blood flow, tightness and is known to help build collagen.

How to Apply Eye Cream

  1. Always start with clean hands #backtobasics

  2. Since the eye area is thin, it can take longer to absorb products. That’s why using a fast absorbing and enriching eye cream is so essential. Eye cream should be applied after serum and before moisturizer. For dry skin, we recommend using our Restorative Sea Hydrate Serum and Green Tea EGCG Protective Cream.

  3. On damp skin, lightly dot eye cream to your under eye area with the tips of your ring fingers. Dab in gently until the eye cream isn’t visible on the surface. Remember, this area is sensitive, so the less pressure the better.

  4. Don’t forget your beauty sleep! Even after a weekend night of drinks and dates, you’ll wake up looking much more well rested than you might feel.
