Packing List:

This spring, fight the urge to pack a cosmetic bag that constitutes its own piece of luggage when you head to the desert. As tough as it is, it’s so much better to keep your cosmetic routine - and arsenal - super simple when you’re on the road. The trick is to tote along products that multi-task and tuck-away neatly. You also need to think about what the essentials are for staying fresh (and refreshed) in long days under the sun. Stick with all natural makeup that will stand up to the elements (hello hot dry expanse of dust). Say it with us: “I will be a radiant-but-not-shiney festival attendee.” Good. Now you have your mantra. Here are the products you’ll need to manifest the hell out of it.

Always. Start. With. SPF. Think of it as an investment for looking great for festivals to come. Keep your face protected with our Green Tea Oil Free Hydration SPF 30. This product is your best friend. It does the heavy lifting of a good SPF, plus it contains green tea to soothe and calm your dermis. For coverage on your shoulders and back (we know you’re planning on whipping out a halter top) try a misting sun block like our Yerba Mate SPF Spray. This will protect your skin from environmental pollutants, plus it’s water resistant. Finally, don’t forget about your lips! Lips are super vulnerable to UV rays, so be sure to prep them with our Sweet Mint Lip Balm SPF 15.

For concerts, festivals, and summer evenings, you generally want to gravitate towards organic beauty products that have mattifying features. Our Mattifying Primer has you covered. It contains skin plumping seaweed collagen to give you a line and crease free base layer, aloe to soothe redness and inflammation, and organic rice starch to keep shine far away from your face. Follow with a BB cream instead of a heavy foundation, to keep things low-key in the natural daylight. Our organic BB is a moisturizing treatment/makeup hybrid that uses natural mica pigments to blur flaws and create an even texture.

Like we said, multi-taskers are key. Enter our Fruit Pigmented Lip & Cheek Tint. This little baby was designed to be used as a cream blush and a moisturizing lip tint all in one. Use this sparingly for a super natural flush (the good kind, not the seriously-overheated-and-cranky kind). Combine this with our Rose Gold Luminizer, a super hard-working product containing antioxidant-rich fruit pigments and light-reflecting gemstones for buildable glow.

Finally, go in with a product to keep everything set, even under the sun. Our Bamboo Blur Powder will keep your look from budging, but won’t feel heavy or stiff: it’s made of 100% bamboo powder and goes on super-silky (it’s one of our faves). Apply with a soft powder brush like our Cruelty Free Powder Brush F50 for light and even coverage. For eyes, keep your packing light, and stick with a killer black mascara like our Maracuja Mascara in Black Tea, which is infused with lash-conditioning Vitamin E and cocoa seed butter.

Stay refreshed throughout the day with a portable set of blotting papers. Our Anti Bacterial Wood Pulp Oil Blotting Papers banish shine and grease and get you re-balanced, with antibacterial wood pulp and hemp to soothe and blot over excited pores. These are key for keeping looks long-lasting under the desert sun. Tuck these into your purse and go forth!

Finally, give your face a break from your 12-step cleansing and toning night routine (and lighten your luggage in the process). We recommend packing a super gentle cleanser along with our ridiculously portable Bright Eyes Mask. This unassuming little thing packs a serious punch of caffeine to brighten and de-puff eyes. Its “hydrogel” formula is composed from 95% organic aloe water and 5% plant cellulose, for serious hydration. You’ll needs this for late nights.

There you have it: everything you need to kill it with your desert look. Now once more, repeat after us: “I will be a radiant-but-not-shiny festival attendee.” You’ve got this.
