How to Use the Age Corrective Skin Care Kit
Dark Spot Remover
Helps balance complexion and even pigmentation.
Apply onto cleansed and toned skin, as you would a serum. Massage gently into skin and follow with moisturizer.
We’ve included our super popular Dark Spot Remover to deal with discoloration caused by the sun and environmental factors over time. We love your freckles, but if you’re concerned about age spots or slight darkening, this is a great product to dive into. Instead of stripping formulas that literally bleach your skin, our version is comprised of aloe juice, sake, bayberry and a stellar blend of Matsutake mushroom and fruit extracts that are proven to reduce hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory marks. Apply underneath moisturizer for a brightening and evening treatment.
Coffee Bean Eye Cream
Promote circulation and reduce eye puffiness.
Dot gently around orbital eye area with ring fingers, then softly massage into skin. Don't pull or tug!
We’ve rounded out the kit with our Coffee Bean Eye Cream, a best-selling product that harnesses the power of caffeine. Mini lesson: new research is showing that caffeine applied directly to the skin can reverse damage caused by UVB sun rays. Moreover, caffeine guards against certain skin cancers at the molecular level by inhibiting ATR, a protein enzyme in the skin that can contribute to cancerous cell growth. And the benefits of caffeine extend even beyond its anti-cancerous sun protectant properties. It’s proven to be effective in reducing eye puffiness, dark circles and small lines around the eye area. Our formula combines coffee bean extract with green tea and rose flower water, for a hydrating and soothing treatment that will increase eye brightness and moisture.
Rejuvenates, plumps, and reduces fine lines.
Apply quarter sized amount into cleansed skin of face and neck, on top of nightly serum.
Our Multi-Vitamin + Antioxidants Ultra Riche PM Treatment is another all-star player – it should be applied post Dark Spot Remover for a healthy glow. It’s comprised of nourishing ingredients that pack a punch of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin D, and Vitamin K2...we went for major luxe with this product, and the result is an ultra rich correcting cream that deals with dryness and irritation that can plague your face during summer excursions. Its formula respects your skin’s natural barriers and PH balance, thanks to a base made up of glacial water infused with aloe vera and organic green tea – ingredients that neutralize harmful free radicals that are the root cause behind aging skin. It’s a hard working treatment that will have you covered for your daily dose of nutrients.
Retinol Restorative Neck Cream
Repairs signs of daily damage and fights free radicals.
Dab a quarter sized amount onto neck and décolleté, then massage gently upwards into skin.
Summer skincare requires paying a little extra attention to areas that have the most fragile and sensitive skin. Outdoor time can speed up aging, so it’s important to give a little TLC to delicate zones that are the most prone to sun spots and sagging. Our Below the Chin guide can point you in the right direction for dealing with your neck and decolletage, which require sun protection and adequate cleansing and hydration in order to stay healthy and taute over time.
With all this in mind, we’ve included Retinol Restorative Neck Cream in the superfood skincare savior kit. Our formula combines powerful natural ingredients like hydrolyzed quinoa (for increased skin density), naturally derived retinol (proven to be the most effective wrinkle-fighter) and olive squalane (for plumpness and hydration). Retinol is a powerful part of the anti-aging puzzle, and we’ve isolated cruelty free, plant-based retinoids in our anti aging formulas (to reap the stellar collagen production benefits.) Peep our retinol guide for more info on plant-based retinol.
When it comes to “anti-aging” products, it can be super tough to find natural solutions – that heal and sustain rather than strip or peel – in a beauty market totally saturated with products that are full of toxins. Conventional formulas that claim to boost collagen and banish wrinkles typically do so at the cost of drenching your face in harmful chemicals that eventually end up in your bloodstream. Conventional products also place you at risk for major irritation and clinical dryness – super high percentages of certain acids that have been synthesized in a lab might get rid of dead skin cells that are causing dullness on your face, but they’ll also get rid of a lot of good things (natural oils and enzymes) in the process. Natural oils are key for lubrication and filling and smoothing fine lines, so the last thing you want to do for aging skin is to remove all of the protective oils. Our bodies are pretty smart, and for beauty and skincare, it’s better to work with them instead of against them.
With this in mind, kick off your summer with a kit that will keep your face youthful and radiant, and will work on healing and treating age related skin concerns.
How to Be Sun Safe This Summer
While there are many natural sunscreen products on the shelf to guard your skin, they are not all created equal. Some may not have a high enough protection factor to shield your skin from the sun’s harmful rays or might be loaded down with toxic chemicals. In order to effectively defend yourself from skin cancer, sunburn, and wrinkles due to premature aging of the skin, you need to consider a few factors before deciding what to slather on this summer.
Are there harmful chemicals in sunscreens?
According to Women's Health magazine, there are six potentially harmful ingredients that you should avoid:
- Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A Palmitate)
- Paraben Preservatives
What should I look for when buying sunscreen?
You should look for labels that say broad spectrum, SPF 30 or higher, skin cancer or skin aging alert, and water resistance. Broad spectrum means the sunscreen lotion will protect your skin from ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, both of which can cause cancer.
UVA rays cause premature aging and can pass through glass. UVB rays cause sunburn and cannot. Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 30 or higher is a number that indicates how well your sunscreen will guard you from sunburn (UVB rays). It means you get 30 times the amount of sun protection than your normal amount of protection, according to WebMD.
The water resistant label helps protect you when you sweat or are in the water.
Water Resistant – protects for 40 minutes in the water.
Very Water Resistant – protects for 80 minutes in the water.
Does everyone need sunscreen?
Yes, they do!
Everyone needs sunscreen, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. The sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays can lead to various skin cancers, the deadliest form being melanoma. Over their lifetime, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer.
“It's a wonderful realization to know that Summer is just around the corner. Being so close to Monterey, CA and Carmel by the Sea, CA, I have a lot of mini-vacations throughout the Summer. If you're going to be spending all day at the beach or pool out in the sun, you need to come prepared! My Yerba Mate SPF 30 and Sweet Mint Lip Balm SPF 15 will keep me protected and moisturized all day. Spray sunblock is my absolute favorite since it's easy to apply!”

How do I use sunscreen?
- Coat all skin that is not covered.
- Use the guideline of 1 ounce. If you are using enough to fill a shot glass you should be fine. This amount can change depending on your body size or how much skin you have exposed.
- Use lip balm that has an SPF 30 or higher.
When should I reapply sunscreen?
This depends on how long you normally start to burn, but for instance, if you burn in 10 minutes, this is how you can figure out when to reapply.
Equation: Normal burn time × SPF rating = Total minutes of protection
SPF 15 – reapply after 150 minutes (10 minutes × 15)
SPF 30 – reapply after 300 minutes (10 minutes × 30)
PRO TIP: Every two hours, or so, reapply. When using water-resistant sunscreen, reapply after leaving the water or sweating, for maximum effectiveness.
What should I do if I have a sunburn?
- Find some shade.
- Take a cool bath to decrease heat.
- Pat yourself damp, and add a moisturizer.
- Use hydrocortisone cream to help with pain.
- Drink extra water to prevent dehydration.
- Do not use any products that end in
With a second-degree burn your skin will blister. To treat this:
- Find some shade.
- Take a cool bath to decrease heat.
- Pat yourself damp, and add a moisturizer.
What is the difference between freckles and dark spots from sun damage?
Freckles are generally harmless darkening of the skin through melanin. These tiny brown spots usually appear more pronounced when sun-exposure happens in early life and can fade over time or during winter. Age or dark spots from sun damage look similar but are usually seen later in life and tend not to fade naturally.
What can I do about dark spots?
When skin is damaged by the sun it may become discolored. You can use our Dark Spot Remover to even out your skin tone or our Retinol Restorative Overnight Balm to help achieve a more even skin tone on your face. Always wear SPF the following day when using any retinol-based products.
Are there any natural skin care products available for my skin besides sunscreen?
Yes! All natural products for your face can help protect even when you aren’t at the beach or pool. Here are some recommended sun protection products that are non-comedogenic and fragrance-free. They’re formulated with natural ingredients such as organic sunflower, avocado oil, and aloe vera.
It’s going to be a full summer of outdoor activities and fun in the sun. Make sure to keep yourself, friends and family stay sun safe!
